In this fast-paced world, it’s easy to feel overwhelmed. Maybe you’ve got a day job that’s draining the life out of you (seriously, get out of that vampire lair), or maybe your little ones demand every ounce of your attention. Or, heaven forbid, you’re getting sucked into that new reality show, and you just have to watch one more episode. Whatever the case, time can be a sneaky little devil. But fear not! I’m here with some time management tips and general tips to help you become a bit of a time wizard, so you can catch up on Love Island and finally crank out that killer DnB track you’ve been putting off for a year!



Setting Priorities

Priorities—those funny little things that always seem to switch up on me. One minute I’m all set to work on my rap album, and the next, my brain’s like, “Hey, what if you made a cartoon about a down-and-out aardvark with mommy issues and a cocaine habit? It could totally showcase the human condition in a funny, engaging way!” Then, out of nowhere, I’m thinking, “You know what? We should get Chinese food for lunch. And let’s definitely get extra dumplings.” Next thing I know, I’m now knee-deep in an online search to find the best takeout spots, and completely forgetting about the aardvark—or the rap album, for that matter.


This is basically how my brain works on a daily basis. It’s like having a hyperactive toddler living rent-free in my head, constantly bouncing from one idea to the next, never settling down long enough to actually finish anything. When your inner monologue sounds like this, priorities can get a little messy. It’s a wild ride, trying to wrangle my thoughts into something resembling order, but hey, at least it keeps things interesting!

One thing that’s been a game-changer for me is defining my goals and writing them out where I can see them. It’s like giving yourself a visual map of what you want to accomplish and a clear benchmark for where you currently stand. When you lay it all out, you get a tangible picture of your aspirations, and it makes it easier to see what’s truly important.

Once you’ve got all your goals written down, you can then prioritize them, arranging them from most important to least important. This way, you’re not just staring at a jumble of ambitions but instead have a clear roadmap guiding you from your top priorities to the less urgent ones. However, listening to a podcast that helps you learn new techniques for your craft or even learn some valuable information definitely is a more achievable short-term goal. (Let’s be real, most JRE episodes might not fit that bill if we’re being honest.) Breaking your goals down into short-term and long-term categories gives you a broader perspective and helps you start chipping away at achieving your desired outcome, even if it’s just a little bit at a time. It turns your big ambitions into manageable steps, making the process feel less overwhelming and more actionable.

Categorizing and ranking tasks using the Eisenhower Matrix is also a very useful technique especially for daily or weekly planning. Here’s how you can break down your task using the Eisenhower Matrix. 


  1. Urgent and Important: These are your top-tier tasks—the kind of stuff that, if left unattended, might lead to epic failure. Think of them as your “do it now” tasks, like meeting a pressing deadline or handling a crucial project component.

  2. Important but Not Urgent: These are the golden tasks that contribute significantly to your long-term goals but don’t need immediate action. It could be planning your next big creative project or building relationships with key collaborators. They’re like your secret weapons for future success.

  3. Urgent but Not Important: These tasks scream for your attention right now but don’t actually push your main goals forward. They might include answering non-essential emails or dealing with minor interruptions. These can often be delegated or handled quickly so you can get back to the important stuff.

  4. Neither Urgent Nor Important: The time-suckers. These are the tasks that neither push you closer to your goals nor need immediate action. They could be things like mindlessly scrolling through social media. They’re your distractions and should be minimized.
